LSU’s attempt to add former NFL signees Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris appears to have finally come to an end, even as the program’s broader dispute with the SEC remains unresolved.
LSU is reported to have filled its remaining roster spots with two other players, bringing the Tigers to the NCAA’s 105-player limit and effectively closing the door on adding Wright and Harris, ending LSU’s push to add the two players for the 2026 season.

The SEC had taken a firm stance against LSU’s potential addition of Wright and Harris. Both players had signed professional contracts and faced restrictions on intraconference transfers, creating a situation that could have put the Tigers in violation of conference rules.
Reports of potential disciplinary action from the conference, including the possibility of severe sanctions, appeared to increase the pressure on LSU’s administration. By filling its final two roster spots, LSU appeared to back away from adding Wright and Harris, putting that portion of the dispute behind it.
College football fans and media members quickly reacted to the development.
The Mik’d Up podcast channel compared the move to an effort to restore peace after weeks of tension. “This feels like LSU offering a peace treaty, even more so then when they did not roster the two ‘NFL’ players last Friday.”
Host of the “Locked On Ole Miss Podcast,” Steven Willis, kept his reaction brief but appeared surprised by how the situation played out. “Shocking.”
Others focused on the impact the decision could have on Wright and Harris, who now appear to have lost their opportunity to play football this season.
The Tingle & Co podcast channel wrote, “Genuinely feel sorry for Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, they did nothing wrong and have lost out on the opportunity to play this season and make money. Hopefully they sue the NCAA and SEC to high hell and get every penny they deserve. As for LSU… Spot the Ball.”
Analyst George Wrighster III, meanwhile, saw LSU’s decision as proof that the program realized the SEC was serious about enforcing its rules. “It turns out LSU was NOT about that life and understands the SEC meant business,” Wrighster said.
News writer Brian Rauf summed up the lengthy saga with a blunt reaction, saying, “All that for nothing, damn.”
Football reporter Louis Johnson questioned whether LSU’s decision would truly bring the controversy to an end. “Does this end the drama? Or is this win not big enough to repair Sankey’s ego?”
One user also took a humorous shot at the situation and Kiffin’s role in the roster drama, writing, “Lane Kiffin fixing LSU’s roster 48 hours before being kicked out of the SEC.”
While the eligibility battle dominated the headlines, LSU made a strong statement on the field in its season opener. The Tigers dismantled Clemson 51-10 and piled up 644 yards of offense in a dominant performance.

With the roster situation now seemingly settled, Kiffin and LSU can shift their full attention back to football. The Tigers will host Louisiana Tech in Baton Rouge on Saturday, Sept. 12. LSU enters the matchup as a heavy favorite and will look to build on its dominant opening performance as it moves deeper into its SEC schedule later this month.
