Michigan football star Bryce Underwood reacts to comments his QB1 job isn’t safe

It’s still crazy to think about how Michigan somehow beat Western Michigan on Saturday.
The game looked to be over before the final play was reviewed, resulting in one second being put back on the clock. Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood didn’t waste it, launching a Hail Mary into the end zone, which was caught by JJ Buchanan.
Michigan won 13-12, though the school was knocked out of the latest AP Top 25 poll.

Despite succeeding with the Hail Mary, Underwood didn’t have the best day at the office on Saturday, finishing with only 12 completions for 170 yards through the air, one touchdown, and one interception. He also compiled 47 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.
Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham spoke with the media on Monday about Underwood’s performance and confirmed that while Underwood is the quarterback right now, it’s not “infinite.”
“He’s our QB right now, and it’s not something that’s infinite,” Whittingham said, via Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press. “I mean, at some point, you know, you’ve gotta turn the corner, and we’ve got to see improvement as we do with a bunch of stuff. You’ve got to see improvement out of the coaches, so it’s not just on Bryce.”

Underwood was asked about those comments on Wednesday and confirmed he didn’t see them.
“There were comments about that? That’s cool. I didn’t see that. It’s cool,” Underwood said.
Underwood didn’t seem fazed by Whittingham’s comments as he prepares for this Saturday’s massive showdown against Oklahoma. He’ll need to play a lot better if Michigan wants to score an upset.
