Tennessee projected to play Baylor, UCF in bowl game after Week 1

No. 18 Tennessee (1-0) concluded its first week of the 2026 football season. The Vols defeated Furman (1-1), 56-9, at Neyland Stadium in Week 1.
Tennessee will next play Saturday at Georgia Tech (0-1). The Week 2 matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
ESPN will televise contest and Bob Wischusen (play-by-play), Louis Riddick (analyst) and Stormy Buonantony (sideline reporter) will be on the call.
Following Week 1 games, Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach of ESPN released bowl game projections.
Schlabach projects Tennessee to play in the Kinder's Texas Bowl against Baylor. The Kinder's Texas Bowl is scheduled for Dec. 31 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas (7:30 p.m. EDT, ESPN).
Bonagura projects the Vols in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl against UCF on Jan. 2, 2027. The contest will take place at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee (7:30 p.m. EDT, ABC).
The game would feature Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel against his former team. He served as the Knights' head coach from 2018-20 before being hired by the Vols.
