SEC presidents and chancellors will skip LSU football’s expulsion when they meet Thursday. This move cools a heated dispute that had threatened the Tigers’ place in the conference. Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday that sources told him expulsion is off Thursday’s agenda.

LSU resolved the immediate roster issue Tuesday night by filling its final two spots with defensive end Gabriel Reliford and cornerback Aidan Anding. The additions brought the Tigers to the NCAA’s 105-player limit and left no opening for Dae’Quan Wright or Zxavian Harris to join the roster this season.
The dispute stemmed from LSU’s effort to add Wright and Harris after both former Ole Miss players signed NFL undrafted free-agent contracts and were later waived. The SEC considers those contracts a violation of its professionalism rule.
LSU President Wade Rousse later informed SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey that the Tigers had filled the remaining roster spots with eligible student-athletes and locked the roster for the season. Rousse also said the school would not challenge, disrupt, or seek to cancel or postpone Thursday’s meeting.
The SEC postponed Wednesday’s scheduled temporary-restraining-order hearing after receiving Rousse’s letter, while Sankey informed conference presidents that Thursday’s meeting would proceed with a revised agenda.
The federal lawsuit remains pending, and the SEC can still pursue other penalties. For now, the Tigers’ potential expulsion is no longer on the immediate agenda.
