Experts Back Texas A&M to Beat Arizona State in Week 2 Test

No. 10 Texas A&M gets its first meaningful test of the 2026 season Saturday when Arizona State visits Kyle Field, and the national consensus is clear: the Aggies are expected to win.
Texas A&M opened the season with a 50-0 shutout of Missouri State, while Arizona State hammered Morgan State 70-7.

The two teams outscored their opening opponents by a combined 120-7, but neither side should expect anything close to that kind of margin this weekend.
For the Aggies, the biggest question is whether the offense can pick up where it left off in the second half of the opener.
Quarterback Marcel Reed completed 21 of 30 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns against Missouri State. Texas A&M also rushed for 236 yards, with Rueben Owens II leading the way with 77 yards on 17 carries.
Defensively, Mike Elko’s group was dominant. The Aggies held Missouri State to just 67 total yards, the fewest allowed by Texas A&M since 1978.
Arizona State, however, arrives with considerably more firepower.
Quarterback Cutter Boley threw for 387 yards and six touchdowns in the Sun Devils’ 70-point opener.
Arizona State piled up 682 total yards, showing the type of explosiveness that could force Texas A&M into a much more competitive four-quarter game.
Still, the experts aren’t wavering.
CBS Sports analysts Tom Fornelli, Chip Patterson and Brandon Marcello all picked Texas A&M to win. Bleacher Report’s David Kenyon and College Football News’ Pete Fiutak also sided with the Aggies.
Oddsmakers are even more bullish. Texas A&M has been listed around a 14-point favorite, with some books pushing the spread to 14.5.
The venue is a major part of that confidence.
More than 107,000 fans packed Kyle Field for the opener, and Saturday’s game should bring another intense environment for an Arizona State team playing its first road game of the season.
Texas A&M has the deeper roster, home-field advantage and a defense that looked elite in Week 1.

But Arizona State has already shown it can score in bunches.
That makes Saturday less about simply getting to 2-0 and more about whether the Aggies can look like a legitimate top-10 team against an opponent capable of making them earn it.
