Texas Reacts to Arch Manning News Before Texas A&M Game

Arch Manning and the No. 17 Texas Longhorns (8-3) used Saturday’s Week 13 game against longtime rival Arkansas to bounce back after getting blown out 35-10 by the Georgia Bulldogs the week prior. While Texas went into halftime up by four, they ended up exploding in the second half en route to a 52-37 victory.

Leading the way for Texas in the win was first-year starter at quarterback, Arch Manning. The nephew of Super Bowl champs Peyton and Eli Manning completed 18-of-30 passes (60%) for 389 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for a touchdown and catching a touchdown pass from his roommate, Parker Livingstone.

Manning’s performance not only kept Texas’ College Football Playoff hopes alive as ESPN’s FPI gives them a 4.3% chance of being selected as one of the 12 teams, but it also earned him national recognition.

Following the performance that saw him become the first quarterback since 1946 to throw, run for, and catch a touchdown, Manning ended up being selected as the AP Player of the Week.

An honor that the Longhorns shared on X on Monday.

“AP Player of the Week: @ArchManning 🤘,” wrote Texas on X.

The Longhorns would love for Manning to replicate his performance this Friday, as the Longhorns are set to host in-state rivals Texas A&M in what will be the 99th meeting all-time.

Texas holds the advantage with a 62-33-3 record. Friday’s game kicks at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
