Kirby Smart is a demanding coach.

So even in the Georgia football team’s dominant 63-3 win against FCS Tennessee State, he found areas for his team to attack after its opener heading into Saturday’s 12:45 p.m. game against Western Kentucky.

He was asked in an appearance on Atlanta radio station 680 The Fan on Wednesday what he’s looking to see in the Bulldogs’ second game.

“Well, higher execution for everybody, for the guys that go on the field and go play,” he said. “We’ve got to create some turnovers on defense. We dropped a pick, we got a fumble out, but it was late. The whistle had blown. If we’re going to be a good football team, we’ve got to turn people over.”

He also said he wants to cut down on penalties.

Georgia had eight for 85 yards last week.

Western Kentucky has 32 players on its roster who saw action in their first game for the Hilltoppers last week.

That includes running back Ajay Allen, a Tulsa transfer who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.

“I like our football team,” Western Kentucky coach Tyson Helton said. “I have not changed one thing about our tune about this football team.”

Georgia has played in four CFPs since then and won two national titles. Western Kentucky will need to find quick answers to keep this one competitive after giving up 323 rushing yards and seven total touchdowns on defense last week in a 49-14 loss to Nevada.

Georgia 49, Western Kentucky 7: The Bulldogs proved quite literally nothing could slow them down last week, not even the heat. It’s shaping up to be a similar showing when the Hilltoppers come to town for the last nonconference game until Thanksgiving weekend.

With No. 2 Georgia up next and reigning national champion Indiana on the road the following week, WKU is staring down an 0-3 start with this brutal stretch of non-conference play. Under head coach Tyson Helton, the Tops have had some success against SEC opponents – WKU crushed host Arkansas 45-19 in 2019, and played LSU close last season (13-10).
