It was a whirlwind weekend for Woodward Academy defensive lineman Tory Clark with a pair of game-day visits in the Pacific Northwest.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Atlanta, Georgia native first went down to Eugene for Oregon's season opener against Boise State on Saturday, before Clark and his family then made the trip up Interstate 5 for the 118th Apple Cup between Washington and Washington State, a 24-10 victory for Jedd Fisch and the Huskies on Sunday.

It marked the second time in less than six months that Clark, a three-star recruit and No. 27 DL by 247Sports, that the Peach State product has made the cross-country flight to check out what UW has to offer. Clark described the experience as "electric," with second-year defensive coordinator Ryan Walters holding the Cougars' offense to just one score.

Defensive line coach Jason Kaufusi got a phenomenal performance out of first-year Derek Colman-Brusa, one of four freshmen to start for Fisch in Sunday's opener, as the staff continue to put playing time on the table for incoming recruits.

"Their defense is very physical upfront and with the linebackers," Clark said. "They also trust young players to start, Coach Kaufusi said the best man will play no matter the age. That’s a big thing to me and says a lot."

In June, the Huskies hosted Clark and his family for their first unofficial visit this year. The combination of the two could be important since it was a quick sprint to Seattle from Eugene, whereas this trip was more of an experience to get to know the area around campus and build a connection with the coaching staff.

UW should remain in the picture for Clark, having got an early foot in the door going into his junior season. Through his first two games in 2026, the coveted three-star defensive lineman has 8 tackles, one for loss, and a sack for Woodward Academy.
