For the first time this season, the Army Black Knights will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the South Florida Bulls Saturday at 12:00 p.m. ET at Michie Stadium (West Point, N.Y.). Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Army is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home in Week 1. They steamrolled past the Bryant Bulldogs 59-3. With the Black Knights ahead 31-3 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Army’s success was spearheaded by the efforts of running back Zach Mundell, who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns, and quarterback Cale Hellums, who threw for 59 yards on four of nine attempts. The game also marked Hellums’ second in a row with at least two rushing touchdowns. Another player making a difference was running back Samari Howard, who gained 115 total yards.

Army was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 569 yards. They have not rushed for that many yards since Nov. 16, 2019, when they gained 594 against VMI.

Meanwhile, South Florida beat the Florida International Panthers 19-9 in Week 1. A big part of the win was the Bulls’ ability to finish drives: they scored on all four of their trips to the red zone.

Most of the squad’s points were scored by special teams, which contributed 13 in total. All those points came courtesy of Nico Gramatica: he added 13 points with four field goals plus one extra point.

Army’s victory brought them up to 1-0. As for South Florida, their win bumped their record up to an identical 1-0.

Looking forward, Army is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 3.5 points. They finished last season with a 7-6 record against the spread.
