Find two college football teams that had better days than LSU and Louisiana Tech did last Saturday.
Louisiana Tech made its debut as a Sun Belt team with an 80-6 win over Northwestern State, going up 63-3 at halftime. Lane Kiffin’s LSU was even more impressive with a 51-7 destruction of Clemson that was actually merciful.
LSU vs Louisiana Tech: Quick Hits
- It’s stunning that these two have only played five times. LSU is 5-0, but it had to work in a 23-7 win last year
- This is the first of two paycheck games for Louisiana Tech, going to Baylor next week before hosting Army.
- LSU will do whatever it’s going to do against Louisiana Tech, and then … GAME … ON. (Next week is Lane Kiffin’s return trip to Ole Miss.)

Why Louisiana Tech Will Win
Everyone is giving LSU all the love in the world – except for the SEC. The distractions keep piling up, with the SEC threatening to kick out the program (that was totally ridiculous – of course that isn’t going to happen). Combine that with the trip to Ole Miss next week, the praise piled on after last week, and this might not be a focused bunch.
Louisiana Tech showed off an offense with Blake Baker throwing for 232 yards last week, the Bulldog ground game ran for 232 yards, and the team will let it fly to try keeping up.
Why LSU Will Win
If it looked like Clemson was playing like it was running in sand, that’s because LSU looked and played like one of the fastest teams in college football.
The talent brought in through the transfer portal looked and played the part right out of the gate. There was one misfire on an early drive, and then there was no stopping the Tiger offense.
LSU vs Louisiana Tech Prediction, Betting Lines
LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt did whatever he wanted, running for 113 yards and two scores, throwing for 230 yards and a touchdown, and as good as Louisiana Tech is, it’s not stopping any of it. The Tigers will name their score – they can start preparing for Ole Miss at halftime.
LSU 49, Louisiana Tech 7
