Oregon: Dante Moore's NFL Stock Took Major Hit With Loss in Front of Scouts

The Oregon Ducks survived a close Week 1 matchup against Boise State in Week 1.

Beating the Broncos 34-27 wasn't a great start to the season for a program that wants to be in the national championship conversation, but Boise State is a favorite to win the Pac-12 and make the College Football Playoff as an automatic qualifier.

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore had a strong performance in the win over Boise State, going 28 of 37 passing for 378 yards and three touchdowns.

However, Moore and Oregon fumbled the bag against Oklahoma State on Saturday, who lost to Tulsa in Week 1.

Following a lightning delay that lasted nearly 90 minutes, the Ducks seemed off once again, this time falling 39-31 to OSU at Boone Pickens Stadium.

Per ESPN's Pete Thamel, Moore entered the day as a favorite among NFL scouts to be the first quarterback taken in the 2027 NFL Draft. His stock took a hit after being outplayed by Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker.

"Annual ESPN QB1 poll — we ask 25 NFL scouts and executives who'll be the first quarterback taken in upcoming draft," Thamel posted on X. "Dante Moore (14) and Arch (7) lead the way. Austin (Arch vs Sayin) will host 22 scouts from 17 teams and one GM (MIA) today. Stillwater (Moore vs. Mestemaker) will host 20 scouts from 13 teams and two GMs (AZ/ATL).

"A huge NFL scouting contingent went to see Oregon Dante Moore. He got outplayed by Drew Mestemaker, who finished with 317 passing yards, 2 TDs and 109 yards rushing and 1 TD. Plus the game-sealing first-down run."

Moore finished the day completing less than 50 percent of his passes, going 14 of 29 passing for 191 yards and two touchdowns. He was credited with six rushing attempts for -6 yards.

Moore returned to college this season as a chance to gain experience and master the art of limiting turnovers and playing well under pressure. On Saturday, he didn't turn the ball over, but he struggled under pressure and took four sacks.

Oregon and Moore will look to rebound in Week 3 when they host Portland State on Friday night.
