The Texas Longhorns pulled off one of the most remarkable comebacks in program history on Saturday by beating Ohio State 24-23. After Texas overcame a massive deficit to stun the top-ranked Buckeyes, Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy and Michigan fans wasted no time blasting Ryan Day and his program.

Dave Portnoy Leads Michigan Fans in Mocking Ohio State After Texas Comeback

Ohio State looked firmly in control for most of the night, dominating the first three quarters and building a 23-3 lead. ESPN’s win probability reflected just how comfortable the Buckeyes appeared, giving them a 98.3% chance of winning late in the third quarter.

However, Steve Sarkisian’s Texas refused to go away as the Longhorns began their stunning comeback when Arch Manning connected with Ryan Wingo for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

Ohio State later drove into position for what could have been a game-clinching field goal, but the Buckeyes ultimately watched a game they had dominated slip away.

The collapse immediately drew the attention of Portnoy, who took a shot at his favorite rival with a mocking post.

“Imagine choking away a 20-point lead in the 4th quarter. Couldn’t be me,” Portnoy tweeted.

Given Portnoy’s well-known support for Michigan, Wolverines fans quickly joined in, taking advantage of the opportunity to ridicule their biggest conference rival.

“How embarrassing… not every Big 10 team can manhandle the SEC like the Wolverines did today,” one said.

“BET THEY WISH THEY HAD ANOTHER SECOND😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 GO BLUE!” a fan said.

“Ryan Day is an embarrassment to the Big 10,” one person said.

According to ESPN Research, Texas’s comeback marked only the fifth time in program history that the Longhorns erased a deficit of at least 20 points to win. The win arguably ranks as Sarkisian’s biggest regular-season victory since he took over the program.

The comeback was even more remarkable given the historical odds working against Texas. Before Saturday’s game, AP No. 1-ranked teams were 197-0 since 2004 when they held a 20-point advantage at any point in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, Ohio State’s loss also came on a day when Michigan secured a 17-10 win over Oklahoma to move to 2-0 on the season. That made Wolverines fans even more eager to celebrate the Buckeyes’ collapse.

“Michigan Undefeated. Ohio State losers. Call it what it is,” a fan said.

“Ohio State EMBARRASSED our conference against the SEC tonight. Absolutely disgraceful,” one added.

However, Ohio State has plenty of time to regroup and use Saturday’s collapse as motivation. The Buckeyes will look to respond strongly as the season progresses.

Meanwhile, Michigan will need to maintain its early momentum and continue stacking wins. Michigan will face Ohio State on November 28, giving the Wolverines another opportunity to remind the Buckeyes about Saturday’s painful defeat.
