Washington Huskies Fall Out of Associated Press Top 25

The Washington Huskies football team improved to 2-0 on the season after a 16-14 win against the Utah State Aggies on Saturday at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
Through the first two weeks of the season, the Huskies have scored a combined 40-points against the Washington State Cougars and Utah State, which both belong to the new iteration of the Pac-12. The coaching staff and the players have not been satisfied with the way the offense has performed in either game.
Apparently, neither has votes for the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The AP released the latest version of the poll Sunday, and it saw Washington fall all the way from 19th in the poll to unranked. UW had the most amount of votes (172) among teams not ranked in the poll, more than double the amount of the team with the second-highest amount of votes not in the poll — Florida (83).
Seven of the Huskies' Big Ten rivals are currently ranked in the Top 25: the Indiana Hoosiers (No. 4), the Ohio State Buckeyes (No. 6), The Southern California Trojans (No. 12), the Penn State Nittany Lions (No. 14), the Iowa Hawkeyes (No. 18), the Michigan Wolverines (No. 19) and the Oregon Ducks (No. 21).
The Wolverines dealt with a similar situation in last week's poll. It fell out of the Top 25 after a one-point win against Western Michigan, which was mired in controversy, but returned to the Top 25 this week after a win against the Oklahoma Sooners, which was ranked 11th.
By this logic, it would make sense if Washington returns to the rankings if it stays undefeated through its games against the first Top 25 teams on its schedule.
The Huskies first game against a ranked opponent will be against No. 12 USC on Oct. 3 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles. UW will follow that game with a showdown against No. 18 Iowa at 6 p.m. PT on Oct. 9 at Husky Stadium.
Before Washington's ranked matchups against the Hawkeyes and Trojans, it will conclude its nonconference schedule against Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) team, the Eastern Washington Eagles, at 4:15 p.m. PT on Sept. 19 and will begin its Big Ten slate against the Minnesota Golden Gophers at a to-be-determined time Sept. 26. Both games will be at Husky Stadium.
If the Huskies get through Eastern Washington and Minnesota unscathed and prevail against Iowa and USC, they will likely return to being ranked, and will boast a 6-0 record in the process.
