Michigan football rebounded from a Week 1 dud against Western Michigan with a very impressive win in Week 2 over Oklahoma. After faltering early in the second half, the Wolverines rebounded with a late touchdown and a number of excellent defensive stops to get a 17-10 win and get back on track in year one of the Kyle Whittingham era.
Unfortunately, the Wolverines are dealing with some injuries coming out of the first two weeks. On Monday, head coach Kyle Whittingham announced that reserve offensive lineman Andrew Babalola will be out for the “foreseeable future” and has no timetable for a return, via Pete Nakos of On3 Sports.
Babalola is ultra-talented as a former five-star recruit in the class of 2025, but he had not yet recorded a snap this season through two games. Despite that, having offensive line depth is crucial for a team like the Wolverines that like to be physical up front and run the ball consistently, so losing him from that room for a large chunk of time is a big loss.

No matter how banged up they get, Whittingham and company have no time to dwell and will continue chugging forward after getting to 2-0 on the season and getting back into the top 25. The Wolverines now get what should be a pretty easy game against UTEP before Big Ten play begins.
While that game against the Miners may not test the depth up front for Michigan, those tests are coming sooner rather than later. Whittingham and company will host Iowa, another physical team on the line of scrimmage, in its first Big Ten game in Week 4, and they still have games against Penn State, Indiana, Oregon and Ohio State left on the schedule following that.
The Babalola injury itself may not be crippling for this Michigan offensive line, but it certainly reduces their margin for error with other injuries and inconsistencies moving forward.
