Legendary College Football coach Deion Sanders and Nick Saban has been seen in ad campaign that advocates “Protect College Sports Act (PCSA)” bill.
But what’s surprising is that the ad campaign is worth $10 million while the Colorado Buffaloes Head Coach and Nick Saban took $0 from the ad.

The TV commercial that’s part of a $10 million advertising push titled “Saving College Sports” features both Nick Saban and Deion Sanders speaking directly to the camera about the chaos in college athletics. It aired during college football broadcasts in September 2026 and is urging viewers to contact Congress and demand passage of the Protect College Sports Act (PCSA).
“College sports are built on tradition. The pride in our schools. The rivalries we pass down. And the way they develop the character of tomorrow’s leaders. That tradition is worth defending,” Saban urged. Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders also followed up with same energy. “The biggest crowds. The brightest lights. Now that’s prime-time. And as a coach and father, I’m helping the next generation find their spotlight. That’s why I support the Protect College Sports Act,” Sanders said.
Neither man received a single dollar for appearing in the commercials or promoting the bill. The entire $10 million budget went to production, airing, lobbying, and related efforts — funded by Texas oil executive Cody Campbell, Texas Tech billionaire booster, and the board of regents chairman. Sanders and Saban simply lent their unmatched credibility to the cause, working pro bono.
Nick Saban has been a vocal critic of unregulated NIL for years. Deion Sanders also jumped in for the bill to stand against the current NIL system to protect the young players and guide them into a more focused career objective.
What is the Bill really about?
The Protect College Sports Act of 2026 is a sweeping federal bill introduced in the Senate on February 15, 2026 by Sens. Ted Cruz and Maria Cantwell that aims to fix the chaos caused by the NIL era and restore balance to college sports. The bill is now moving through the Senate Commerce Committee after passing in mid-June and is expected to reach a full Senate vote soon.
Its main goals are to end the unregulated NIL bidding wars that have disrupted games and rivalries, protect the tradition and character development that define the sport, and level the playing field for all athletes including those at Historically Black Colleges and Universities and in women’s sports.
Key provisions include banning colleges, conferences, and the NCAA from restricting athletes from entering NIL deals once they exceed a $600 reporting threshold, as well as capping NIL agent fees at 5 percent after state registration.
The bill also gives athletes one free transfer per season without losing eligibility, bars football coaches from serving as head coach at another school in the same season, and makes the House settlement’s revenue-sharing limits permanent with annual inflation adjustments.
