Colorado football continued its upward trend in USA TODAY Sports college football 1-138 re-rank following a blowout Week 2 win over Weber State.
Paul Myerberg's weekly FBS rankings saw the Buffaloes move up seven spots to No. 52 nationally. CU began the season at No. 104, one of the fourth-lowest-ranked Power Four teams. Through two weeks, Deion Sanders' team has made up significant ground.
The 1-138 power rankings fluctuate greatly from week to week. For example, Oklahoma State rose 37 spots following its historic win over Oregon, while the Ducks fell 27 spots and out of the top 25.
Teams around Colorado include Cal at No. 52, Florida State at No. 51, and the closest Big 12 team, Baylor, at No. 49. CU's Week 3 opponent, Northwestern, is well below the Buffs, coming in at No. 97.
Texas took the top spot after beating Ohio State, dropping the Buckeyes to No. 6.
Where Colorado stands within the Big 12
Colorado is ranked as the tenth-highest Big 12 team after being the last Big 12 team entering the season. Surprisingly, three Big 12 programs rank inside the top 15, with BYU (No. 10), Utah (No. 13), and Texas Tech (No. 15) leading the conference.
Bottom Line
A Week 3 win at Northwestern would certainly boost Colorado's resume even more and vault the Buffaloes into the top 50.
