Getting ahold of precise NIL figures in college sports is difficult, as those numbers are largely kept private whereas the basic structure of professional sports contracts are reliably reported to the public.
Still, you don't need anyone to tell you that Miami, for example, has a higher budget than Duke after the Hurricanes plucked former Blue Devils QB Darian Mensah out of the transfer portal.
It's no secret that Boston College just doesn't have the resources of college football's most prominent programs, but the disparity laid out in a report by The Athletic is still rather jarring.
Here's a look at Boston College's NIL budget and how it compares to college football's best.

Boston College NIL Budget
According to a report from The Athletic, which investigated each "Power Four" college football programs NIL budget to create an estimation, Boston College has the lowest NIL budget of any of the four conferences plus Notre Dame.
The report found that the Eagles' roster costs between $8-13 million, which ranks last behind Duke's $12-15 million and Cincinnati's $14-16 million.
The Athletic noted that the figures "refer to the amount of money a school had at its disposal to assemble its 2026 roster," leaving out "any player income not managed or controlled by the football program."
While the figures are inexact, they paint a bleak picture for Boston College. The program has avoided a losing record three times in the first five seasons since the NIL era began, but the Eagles went just 2-10 in 2025 as rosters became more expensive around college football.

The SEC makes up six of the top 10 largest budgets, though the two highest figures, by The Athletic's estimation, are Big Ten squads.
The two lowest budgets belong to ACC schools, with Duke joining Boston College, while Miami is the conference's only program ranked within the top 20.
