Easy isn’t always simple. Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Season 2, Episode 11

Coach Fisch has said that he is confident that the problems with the offensive line and the run game are ‘correctable’. That doesn’t mean that it happen quickly, but let’s hope that it does happen.

Football Dots

  • DC Ryan Walters and WR coach Kevin Cummings met with the media yesterday.
    • Walters talked about the the defensive players who have had to step up with some of the other players out due to injury. Dawgaman has ($) a transcript.
    • Coach Cummings talked about the young WR’s that were asked to play a major role in the game against Utah State. He mentioned that Trez Davis never even practiced the pass that he caught just before the end of the first half. Dawgman has ($) a transcript.
    • Andy Yamashita of the Seattle Times also writes about how disappointed Coach Switzer is with the O-line performance in the Apple Cup. Coach Switzer called out 3 OL who underperformed on that 4th and goal play: Greene, Mills, and Taulealea.
    • Jacob Lane, Dylan Robinson, Chris Lawson, Demond Williams, and John Mills also met with the media. Dawgman has ($) a transcript. You can watch all of the interviews here:
  • Lars Hanson highlights the two freshmen WR’s who stepped up against Utah State, saying that they were a couple of the bright spots on the UW offense last Saturday.
  • Dan Raley points out the UW’s defense has been extra stingy, accounting for 6 turnovers in their two games. UW is tied for first nationally with 5 interceptions and tied (with Notre Dame) for third in turnover margin, averaging 3 per game. Unfortunately UW has scored just 10 points on those 6 turnovers, although 2 of them were at the end of the game.
  • Demond Williams is now just one of 3 UW QB’s to have rushed for over 1000 yards in their UW career. The others are Jake Locker (1939 rushing yards) and Marques Tuiasosopo (1495 rushing yards). With UW’s current RB situation, will Coach Fisch rely on the running of his QB enough that he gets the extra 500 yards this season to get to second on the list?
  • Jedd Fisch was on the radio and talked about the move to of games to week zero starting in 2027 and would like the post season to be shortened as a result-or at least not lengthened any more than just the one weekend. (And yes, starting next year the season will start the last weekend in August instead of the first weekend in September.)
  • UW has decided on the uniform for the Eastern Washington game, and I’m sure that there are some fans that will have an opinion.
  • And the game against Minnesota will be a ‘blackout’ game.
  • I guess that it will no longer be “GRRREAAAT”.

UW Athletics Dots

  • The UW Women’s Softball team began practicing. And they announced their B1G schedule.
  • UW Men’s Soccer’s Zach Ramsey was name Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.
  • The UW Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams have been preparing for their first meet, the John McNichols Invitational, this weekend in Terre Haute, Indiana.
