LSU's Princewill Umanmielen served court papers regarding Ole Miss lawsuit

OXFORD – Former Ole Miss edge rusher and current LSU star Princewill Umanmielen was served “first set of interrogatories, requests for production of documents and requests for admission to defendant” regarding a lawsuit Ole Miss filed against him in August, according to documents filed in the Lafayette County Circuit Court on Tuesday. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was the first to report the filing.
According to Thamel, Umanmielen “was served with court papers in the parking lot outside LSU's football facility” Tuesday and that LSU was “generally aware” of Ole Miss’ intent. Umanmielen was issued a summons on Aug. 14, according to court documents.

Ole Miss filed breach of contract lawsuits against Umanmielen and former offensive lineman Devin Harper in late July. The two had previously signed NIL agreements to stay at Ole Miss but eventually entered the transfer portal and joined former head coach Lane Kiffin in LSU. The signed NIL agreement contained “a provision requiring them to compensate the university with a predetermined amount if they departed before fulfilling their commitment,” according to Ole Miss.
The lawsuit is seeking among all “actual, consequential, and allowable damages,” $550,000 from Umanmielen.
According to U.S. Legal Support, “Giving proper notice to the individuals required at court is also known as service of process. Appropriate service of process often requires that the court papers be delivered directly to the individual.”
Umanmielen transferred to Ole Miss from Nebraska prior to the 2025 season. He led the Rebels with nine sacks last season and was a key piece for a team that made its first College Football Playoff appearance and advanced to the semifinals in the Fiesta Bowl. He was one of four Ole Miss players to follow Kiffin to LSU – Harper, wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr. and linebacker TJ Dottery.
