FSU standing out to 2028 defensive lineman

Florida State has two commitments in their 2028 recruiting class, and they're looking for more. Defensive lineman Fine Taufatofua Vailahi, who transfered from Byron Nelson High School in Texas to West High School in Utah, is a recruit they have their eyes on.

His recruitment has picked up tremendously throughout the spring and summer. As he evaluates things, FSU is one of the programs that standout to him.

"There are a lot of coaches and programs show me a lot of love. And some new ones have been coming in, too. I would say Florida State, Tennessee, UCLA, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Houston, a few others are in there for sure," Vailahi told 247Sports.

Vailahi got an offer from Florida State back in January after he attended one of their Junior Day events. The 6-foot-2, 255-pounder spoke on his experience in Tallahassee.

"Florida State, when I went down there in the past, it was great," said Vailahi. "The coaches there were all high energy guys, and Mike Norvell has some serious energy in him. When I saw him moving around, the energy he carries himself with, I was thinking it might be a move."

FSU has also made Vailahi feel like a priority with their approach.

"That all shows in the energy they brought to recruiting me," Vailahi said. "And they welcomed me as if I'm already one of their players. The love they showed me, sending me stuff about the program and videos about the program, it's showing the love they have for me. And stuff like that, that's what I really care about."

The next step for Florida State is to get Vailahi on campus for a game visit this season if possible.
