Master P recalls a stranded Michael Jackson asking him how to get a bus out of New York after 9/11

Master P shared a detailed memory of helping out Michael Jackson on Cam Newton’s podcast.
The King of Pop could fill Madison Square Garden. He could not, apparently, charter a bus.
Master P shared that detail during an appearance on Cam Newton’s “Funky Friday” podcast, recalling the days immediately following the Sept. 11 attacks, when flights nationwide were grounded, and celebrities found themselves stranded alongside everyone else.
The No Limit founder was in New York because his son, Lil Romeo, had performed at Michael Jackson’s 30th anniversary concert days earlier, delivering a medley that paired Romeo’s “My Baby” with the Jackson 5 original it sampled. When the attacks came, P had to improvise a way home.
“I had to rent a bus to come back home ’cause they wasn’t flying out no more,” he said. Jackson, it turned out, needed the same thing and had no idea how to arrange it. P recalled him asking, “Man, how you get a bus?” The answer was straightforward enough. P gave him a number and connected him to the same service.
Romeo has reflected on that week publicly as well. In a Facebook post last September, he described performing at a sold-out Madison Square Garden with Jackson in attendance as dreamlike, noting he was 11 and visiting New York for the first time before the next day turned into what he called a real-life nightmare.
“A sold out #MadisonSquareGarden and #michaeljackson being in attendance was like a dream,” he captioned the post. “I mean I was 11 years old in #NewYork for the first time then the next day was a real life nightmare. Anybody who was there as well or affected by 9/11 my prayers go out to you. This could’ve been my pops Master P and me last performance and public moment.”
He added that he narrowly missed a scheduled interview and photoshoot at the World Trade Center, and that the concert could easily have been his and his father’s final public moment.
