Alabama football Week 3 opponent preview: Florida State Seminoles

On Saturday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide are set to welcome the Florida State Seminoles to Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium for a high-profile SEC vs. ACC showdown.

A rematch from just last season, Florida State is an opponent which Alabama has faced only three times dating back to 2007, though none of those meetings came in Tuscaloosa. Last season, Alabama and Florida State met in Week 1 in Tallahassee, a game which saw the Crimson Tide suffer a shocking 31-17 loss.

Looking ahead to the latest matchup, Florida State enters the 2026 meeting in a similar situation to a year ago when it comes to the program overall. The Seminoles are coming off another losing season, and have already begun 2026 with a loss on their resume.

Coming to Tuscaloosa from the ACC, Florida State is currently unranked at 1-1 overall (0-1 ACC) for the season. The Seminoles, who are coming off a bye week, suffered their first loss of the season at home in Week 1 to SMU, 27-24, while their win came against New Mexico State in Tallahassee.

Florida State's defense is led by Ashlynd Barker and Chris Jones, both of which are tied for the team-lead in tackles with 15 so far this season.
