FSU pursuing flip of local WR prospect committed to SEC school

2027 three-star wide receiver Davion Crumitie has been on Florida State's radar since last June when he attended one of their camps. He was also on campus for their season opener last year against the Alabama Crimson Tide, and he took unofficial visits in March and April. He received an offer on the last visit.

In May, Crumitie made a commitment, but it was to the Vanderbilt Commodores. With that said, FSU has continued their pursuit of Crumitie, and so has one of their arch rivals per Zach Blostein of 247Sports.

Florida State and Florida are both still in contact with Crumitie. FSU hosted him for their game against SMU last week and Florida is expected to have him on campus for their matchup with Ole Miss next weekend. I don't view a flip as likely at this point. Vandy has done the best job recruiting the Sunshine State speedster and while him taking visits elsewhere isn't ideal, I don't get the sense that there is much worry about his commitment status at this point.

Florida State's interest in Crumitie makes a ton of sense for two reasons. The first is his production as he racked up 52 catches for 776 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver plus 26 tackles and one interception on defense playing safety. Also, Crumitie scored touchdowns on kickoff and punt returns. Secondly, he attends Rickards High School in Tallahassee, giving them the local appeal in terms of their approach.

Crumitie is the No. 594 player nationally and the No. 43 athlete per 247Sports composite rankings. He's the No. 51 prospect in the state of Florida as well.

Clearly they have some work to do. However, FSU shouldn't let up on their efforts to flip Crumitie.
