Miami Hurricanes' 2027 In-Conference Schedule Announced

MIAMI, Fla. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the Miami Hurricanes’ 2027 ACC schedule on Wednesday, featuring four home and five away games; dates are not included.

Hard Rock Stadium will host the California Golden Bears, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Louisville Cardinals, and Virginia Cavaliers. The Hurricanes will travel approximately 4,325 miles for ACC play, facing the Duke Blue Devils, Florida State Seminoles, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Pitt Panthers, and Virginia Tech Hokies.

Looking ahead to the 2027 college football season, Mario Cristobal will likely have a new quarterback under center. Darian Mensah is currently projected to be a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Cristobal mentioned that the Coral Gables program will not pursue another quarterback in the transfer portal unless a unique circumstance arises.

The Hurricanes’ quarterback room is projected to be Luke Nickel, Dereon Coleman, and incoming freshman Israel Briggs. They will compete for the starting job in spring practices, then fall camp. Nickel is currently Mensah’s backup, but showed flashes in last Thursday’s 77-7 win against Florida A&M. The Alpharetta (Ga.) native completed eight of eight passes (100 percent) and threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns – all in the third quarter.

In the same game, Coleman took over in the fourth. He completed five of six passes (83.3 percent) and threw for 30 yards. The Hurricanes primarily ran the ball with Coleman under center. He still has room to improve, especially from a physique standpoint.

A few standout notes about the upcoming ACC schedule next year.

There’s a strong possibility that Mike Norvell isn’t on the Seminoles’ sidelines when the Hurricanes travel to Tallahassee. This season’s results will likely determine whether or not he stays for another year. Norvell is currently 3-3 against the Hurricanes as the Seminoles head coach. Another in-state rivalry clash is scheduled for Oct. 17 at Hard Rock Stadium.

The 2027 college football season will be James Franklin’s second year with the Hokies. He’s had remarkable head coaching stints at Vanderbilt and Penn State. Franklin could have the Hokies as an ACC riser.

Panthers quarterback Mason Heintschel will be draft-eligible for the first time after the 2027 college football season. He’s already on pace to surpass last year’s production as a freshman. In the Panthers’ season opener against Miami (OH), Heintschel completed 31 of 41 passes (75.6 percent) and threw for 453 yards and a program-record-breaking seven touchdowns.

The 19-year-old could be one of the ACC’s biggest stars in 2027.

As of right now, the Hurricanes are 2-0 (ACC 1-0) this season, Mensah is making a Heisman Trophy push, and the team is looking to bring a couple of trophies to the Coral Gables campus.
