The Palmetto Bowl is all about the rivalry. Clemson is bowl eligible, but it lost two of the last three against the Gamecocks. South Carolina’s season ended when it gagged away the loss to Texas A&M, but taking down the Tigers again would mean more than any bowl win.

Why Clemson Will Win
It’s been a super-weird year for this bunch that just didn’t add up.
It can’t seem to move the chains easily, but Cade Klubnik and the passing game have gone off. The running game is just okay, but the line has been solid in pass protection.
On the other side, the Tiger run defense has been a rock against the run and amazing on third downs, but when it doesn’t take the ball away, the team doesn’t win.
Basically, the team really isn’t that bad.
South Carolina has even more problems than Clemson does offensively on third downs and has no running game whatsoever against decent defenses. It has even less of a clutch gene, there are way too many mistakes, and …
Why South Carolina Will Win
Okay, LaNorris Sellers. Be the best player on the field again.
He struggled to do anything through the air against the Tigers last season, but his 166 rushing yards and two touchdowns made up for it.
The offensive line hasn’t given him any sort of time to work, and again, the ground game isn’t doing much to take the heat off. However, when he gets on the move, and the rushing attack is merely competent, the Gamecocks aren’t bad.
The less they have to push, the better. Totally unable to overcome any mistakes, they’re 0-6 when turning it over, 4-1 when they don’t.
Clemson’s defense might be solid, but it doesn’t force takeaways, coming up with just three over the last five games. But …

Clemson will come up with a takeaway, maybe two, and it’ll get more out of its lines. It won’t be easy, and there won’t be anything pretty, but its mistakes won’t be as catastrophic.
The Gamecocks will pull out all the stops, but playing at home hasn’t meant too much this season. Clemson has been great on the road this season, especially on defense.
All of a sudden, the four-game winning streak to close out the regular season will seem solid.
