The Anti-Preview: No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish VS Michigan State Spartans
Notre Dame football

All week long I’ve been talking about how glad I am that Notre Dame VS Michigan State is back on the schedule. It’s a rivalry that meant a lot to me for most of my life, but I have to tell ya… I sure hope I don’t regret how eager I am. It’s been almost a decade since the two teams have played, but the last 20 games played in this rivalry has a record of 10-10.

Notre Dame is almost a 30 point favorite in this game, but with bad weather on the horizon and history in their veins — you never know.

And now it’s time to move on to Rice, so let’s do the thing we came to do…

WHAT SHOULD YOU BE DRINKING?

Are you ready for this? Hey guys… IT’S TROJAN BLOOD WEEK!

Since Lincoln Riley and USC have proved themselves to be cowards of the worst kind, we look to Sparta and raise our glasses for battle.

You know the recipe… gin and Mountain Dew Code Red. This has NEVER been anything different, but I want to show you something. Our soon to be AI overlords aren’t perfect, and this AI recap of what Trojan Blood is supposed to be is wrong — so wrong. GIN AND MOUNTAIN DEW CODE RED Y’ALL.

“Trojan Blood” is  a signature cocktail popularized by One Foot Down , an SB Nation blog dedicated to Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. [1]

The drink is traditionally prepared and consumed by fans during “Trojan Blood Week”—the week leading up to Notre Dame’s historic rivalry game against the USC Trojans for the Jeweled Shillelagh. [12]

While exact measurements are often mixed to personal preference, the classic fan recipe typically consists of:

  • Vodka or Gin
  • Cranberry Juice (giving it the deep red “blood” color)
  • Grapefruit Juice or Squirt soda [1]

Are you looking for the exact proportions to mix a batch for an upcoming game day, or did you want to dive into the history of the Notre Dame vs. USC rivalry?

WHAT SHOULD YOU BE EATING?

Handhelds are perfect battle foods, but get that god damn sandwich out of my face — I’m eating straight off of the bone.

THREE OTHER GAMES

Three other games I’m paying attention to this week are…

Houston VS Texas Tech
Ole Miss VS LSU
SMU VS Louisville

I think is going to be a sneaky good week. Despite the Trojan Blood consumption, I don’t think it’s going to be a real blood week for the rankings — but maybe.

THE POD BABY

PREDICTION

I’ve gone back and forth with this one all week. The weather is almost certainly going to play a huge factor on Saturday night, but great defenses always show up —and I think this is a great Irish defense. I’m still not sold that the Irish running game will find its way back to being good, but the defense will create a handful of short field opportunities. I’m rolling with the Irish to cover.

Notre Dame 37, Michigan State 6
