‘Why is Oregon Playing Portland State?’ ‘Huge Waste of Time’ — CFB Fans Have Had Enough as Ducks Savage Vikings in One-Sided Bloodbath

Approaching halftime on Friday night, the No. 21-ranked Oregon Ducks were pretty much playing around with the Portland State Vikings.

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore had four first-half touchdown passes to his credit. Ducks running back Jordon Davison collected two rushing touchdowns, and Oregon had six different players posting touchdowns, too. With less than 2 minutes left in the first half, the Ducks were cruising over the Knights 49-0.

While Oregon fans were having a good time watching this beatdown, other fans weren’t as hyped up.

CFB Fans Don’t Want Oregon Playing These Games Again

For teams like Portland State, playing Oregon can bring their schools a nice paycheck. In return, though, Portland State gets a good ol’ fashioned whooping.

One college football fan wrote online, “Portland State has to charge more than 590K to play Oregon. A million minimum if you want to buy a win.”

Old Row Sports’ account on X decided to make their point while using a recent video of U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. The account posted online, “We were a millimeter away from overtime Big 12 football and now we get Portland St vs Oregon.”

This fan just found it rather unbelievable that Oregon and all of its players were on the field taking on Portland State. The fan wrote, “Why is Oregon playing Portland State? Be for real.”

Collin Wilson of Action Network watched this game play out on TV and, well, he posted on social media, “No one needed a Portland State game more than Oregon.”

Another college football fan just seemed to be taken aback by how badly the visitors were being beaten by the Ducks. The fan wrote, “What did Portland State do to deserve this?”

Ducks beat reporter Aaron J. Fentress of The Oregonian was covering the game on Friday night. He also questioned why a game like this one was actually taking place. Fentress wrote, “Oregon 28, PSU 0 … 4:59 remaining in the first quarter. A huge waste of time for all involved.”

When you have an Oregon beat writer putting these words out to the college football world, then questions have to be asked and ultimately answered.

The Ducks eventually ran up the score 84-0, with Dylan Raiola taking the field in place of Moore and having a night himself. He finished the game going 11-of-11 for 124 passing yards and three touchdowns.

Oregon’s margin of victory on Friday night is now the largest in Autzen Stadium history.
