All eyes are on Oxford, Mississippi, this Saturday as the Ole Miss Rebels get set to host Lane Kiffin’s LSU Tigers in the marquee matchup of the weekend slate. While there are plenty of storylines to go around for this showdown, Colin Cowherd talked about one particular aspect of how Ole Miss is trying to add to its home-field advantage.
Ole Miss Bans LSU Gear in Student Section
Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford seems to keep getting juicier by the day. Now the Rebels are banning all purple and gold LSU gear from a section of the stadium, and Colin Cowherd thinks this is simply feeding into what Kiffin wants.
“It’s disrespectful to Pete Golding and the staff that you can’t control yourself. You have a top-10 team and you can’t move on… You got dumped! It’s ok!”
Cowherd also went on to say, “Lane Kiffin’s got a lot of Tom Cruise. There’s a little weirdness but he’s a force. He made Ole Miss relevant…Still in their head.”
Lane Kiffin left Ole Miss for the LSU job, and whether the situation was handled the right way or not is still up for debate. Most people can agree, though, that it was a bad situation in general.

But Ole Miss still made it all the way to the CFP semifinals, coming oh so close to reaching the National Championship before falling short against Miami. When all was said and done, it appeared they were fine without Kiffin, with Pete Golding taking over.
They’re also off to a solid 2-0 start this season after a big Week 1 win over Louisville. To go with that, they have one of the best CFB QBs in the country in Trinidad Chambliss, who has a PFN CFB QB Impact Score of 83.4 after throwing for 561 yards with 5 TDs to just 1 interception.

Now, this matchup is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated games of the season, and for good reason. The Rebels match up with the Tigers in terms of talent on the field, but the coaching advantage leans toward LSU because of Kiffin’s experience and Golding’s lack thereof.
Trinidad Chambliss vs. Sam Leavitt should be cinema, with two great teams going back and forth in what has quickly become a bitter rivalry, all thanks to the decisions and actions of the one and only Mr. Lane Kiffin.
