Notes & Thoughts:

  • This was the first game all season that only the starting five offensive linemen played every snap. It was satisfying to watch the offense stop trying to out-think themselves and completely bully Nebraska at the line of scrimmage without having to use a sixth lineman.
  • Amare Campbell played every snap on defense and has played over 90% of the total snaps this season. He may not be the most talented player on the defense, but he is certainly the most reliable.
  • Luke Reynolds’ snaps declined from 37 last week to 15 this week. He had the nice run on the fake punt, but I think the coaching staff has figured out that Dinkins and Rappleyea are better blockers.
  • The 46 players who played in this game is the highest number in conference play.
  • Ty Blanding led the defensive tackles in snaps with 33, about 22% of his total for the season. Hopefully he sticks around when the next coaching regime begins.
  • Ethan Grunkemeyer (338 snaps) will eclipse Drew Allar’s season total (349) against Rutgers. I like what I have seen from him as his playing time has increased.
