COLUMBUS — A college football national championship contender awaits the Kent State Golden Flashes.
Head coach Mark Carney's team will face Ohio State this afternoon at Ohio Stadium. Kickoff time is at noon.
The Buckeyes (1-1) are one of two Power 4 teams on Kent State's schedule. The Flashes (1-1) opened the season at South Carolina.

Kent State-Ohio State football series history
Kent State and Ohio State have met just three times since the series started in 2002. The Buckeyes easily won all three games.
J.T. Barrett threw six touchdown passes to lead Ohio State past Kent State 66-0 in the last meeting in 2014. The Buckeyes rolled up 628 total yards and held the Flashes to just 126 yards.
Ohio State also beat Kent State 51-17 in 2002 and 48-3 in 2007. Current Flashes special teams analyst Josh Cribbs threw two touchdown passes in the 2002 game.
