Texas A&M football witnessed one early Saturday scare with wide receiver Terry Bussey getting carted off. But then the Aggies looked sluggish from there against Kentucky. And a Marcel Reed interception got fans pulling their hair out before A&M fell 31-21 in upset fashion.
With the Aggies inside UK territory, Reed overthrew this pass that landed into the Wildcats’ hands. And that miscue arrived with under seven minutes left at Kyle Field.

Texas A&M has looked nothing like the nation’s No. 9 ranked team. Kentucky dominated following a slow first half, jumping out to a 28-7 lead entering the fourth quarter.
The Aggies trailed 31-21 with under a minute left. Reed managed to throw one last touchdown pass in with 3:45 left. But UK managed to hang on for the win and watch rookie coach Will Stein beat veteran Mike Elko.
Yet the fans came out in full force blasting Reed for that interception and the overall play of A&M.
“Marcel can’t Reed,” was what one fan account posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Fantasy college football analyst Matthew Berry acknowledged the awful display. Even Aggies reporter Mark Passwaters began to believe that Reed has declined.
“Yeah, he worked with a QB coach all offseason. Yeah, he looked great in camp. But right now, Marcel Reed looks like a quarterback who has regressed,” Passwaters posted on X.
Reed finished 26-of-49 through the air, hitting 236 yards and tossing just one touchdown pass, which was that late one in the fourth. But he left with two takeaways including the one during the fourth.
So now Texas A&M faces a long drop from the top 10 once the Sunday rankings come out.
