Florida State head coach Mike Norvell met with reporters after the Seminoles’ 50-36 loss at No. 10 Alabama. Quarterback Ashton Daniels and linebacker Chris Jones followed.

Norvell said the team “battled” but couldn’t get enough stops and made a few crucial mistakes on offense.

“I’m pissed off that we didn’t win the game.”

He said they’ve been close, “but the results have not been good enough.” He thought the guys came out early and played really well.

Florida State led 21-6 and still held 21-13 before weather stopped play late in the first half. Alabama scored on nine straight possessions after that. FSU is 1-2. The road losing streak is 10 games.

“The delays and all the things that happened, I thought our guys handled it well early… not as well coming out of the halftime break.”

On the 20 unanswered points late in the first half:

“It was an awful sequence of that game.”

On the defense, Norvell said that side of the ball is “not good enough” right now. He noted SMU and Alabama have good offenses, but pointed to giving up more than 550 yards in two straight games.

“At the end of the day, this team is growing.”
