‘Embarrassing,’ ‘Deion Sanders Needs To Be Fired’ — Calls Mount for Colorado To Cut Ties With HC As Blowout Loss to Northwestern Causes Panic

The Colorado Buffaloes suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 41-7 to the Northwestern Wildcats Saturday. Too many turnovers and untimely rain did the most damage, with a pile of penalties adding to the woes.
Before the Buffs could even leave the field, fans were already calling for Sanders’ ouster and a major roster shakeup on social media.
Quarterback Julian Lewis threw two interceptions and struggled to put up crucial points against a strong Northwestern defense. All that “swagger” Sanders had been boasting about for so long fell flat this time around at Martin Stadium.
Fans Demand Deion Sanders’ Firing After Blowout Loss
It wasn’t just the Colorado offense. The defense also failed to contain Northwestern QB Aidan Chiles, who finished with five touchdowns.
He completed 17 of 22 passes and racked up 241 yards. Meanwhile, Colorado committed nine penalties for 80 yards, while the turnovers aided Northwestern’s scoring and helped the Wildcats build their lead.
Fans were certainly not happy with the showing, venting their frustration at Sanders and his coaching staff.
“I never want to hear another word about Colorado ever again. Deion Sanders is a trash coach,” said a fan on X.
“Deion Sanders needs to be fired,” added another user. Meanwhile, one fan pointed to Coach Prime being a distraction and criticized the program for what they viewed as years of pettiness.
“The Deion Sanders era at Colorado can’t end soon enough. Having a high-profile head coach has become a distraction from how bad the football is. Outside of 2024, it’s been nothing but losses. Most of them embarrassing,” they wrote.

This Colorado fan just could not stand the embarrassment of a road loss without the team even putting up a good fight.
“Fire Deion Sanders. This game show is a [expletive] embarrassment. Back-to-back weeks of 100 yards in penalties are on the coaches,” the user commented.
“No discipline on this team whatsoever. Fire him tonight. Find a coach with some class instead of fans watching coaches run around the sideline with gold chains and no ability to make any of these players better. Fire them all.”
Colorado was penalized 13 times for 107 yards against Weber State, then nine times for 80 yards against Northwestern. That’s 22 penalties for 187 yards over the two games, but only the Weber State game exceeded 100 penalty yards.

“Deion Sanders should just be a coordinator,” another X user said, while another took the opportunity to recruit Coach Prime to the Cincinnati Bearcats.
“Deion almost chose Cincy due to his ties from his Reds days. Would it be far-fetched to say Deion could be interested in the Bearcats?”
The loss drops Colorado to 2-1 on the season. Next up, they face the Baylor Bears in Waco for their Week 4 showdown. Once again, it’s a major opponent for the program on their 2026 schedule.
With running backs Micah Welch and Damian Henderson II both fumbling and a fragile wide receiver room without Danny Scudero, it appears to be a major vulnerability that Coach Prime needs to fix before they take the field next Saturday, Sept. 26.
