LSU head coach Lane Kiffin’s much-anticipated return to Oxford to face the Ole Miss Rebels dominated college football’s Week 3 storyline.

While both sides had plenty at stake, it was the No. 8 Rebels who had the last laugh, defeating the No. 7 Tigers in front of a raucous crowd at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. As Kiffin was forced to lick his wounds, the loss shined a spotlight on his rough record on the road against opponents ranked in the Top 10. Once that statistic came to light, there was no going back.

Fans Rip Lane Kiffin Over His Poor Big-Game Record

With that loss to Ole Miss, Kiffin is now 1-9 on the road against Top 10 opponents, a record that only gave his critics more ammo as the criticism mounted on Saturday night.

One fan put Kiffin’s record against Top 10 opponents on the road into proper perspective. “The one [win] was during the Obama administration, by the way,”the fan wrote.

Another doubted Kiffin’s big-game winning ability. “Make your jokes about Oregon last week, but Lane Kiffin can’t win the big ones,” the fan concluded.

One fan questioned whether LSU’s $91 million investment in Kiffin was worth the coach’s record.

“A lot of money was spent to acquire Kiffin. This is not the stat that you think comes with that acquisition,” the fan asked.

Another fan mocked the disconnect between Kiffin’s reputation and his record. “Just wait until he gets to an elite program, he’ll never lose,” the fan remarked.

One fan used scathing sarcasm to mock Kiffin’s decision to leave Ole Miss for LSU.

“He just needs more time and more money. May need to go to a school with better resources and tradition,” the fan wrote.

An Ole Miss fan celebrated having Pete Golding over Kiffin. “Enjoy Lane Choke Kiffin, LSU, we actually have a coach that can win big games,” the fan posted.

Finally, one person kept his criticism short, sharp, and sweet, calling Kane “the 91-million-dollar fraud.”

The Tigers have a brutal schedule ahead, including home games against the Texas A&M Aggies, Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas Longhorns, as well as a tough road trip against the Kentucky Wildcats.
