Saturday night turned into a disappointing outing for Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers. Instead of celebrating a successful return to Oxford, Kiffin watched his former team, the Ole Miss Rebels, hand his new team a 32-24 beatdown.

Kiffin later appeared to take a subtle dig at Rebels fans, which quickly drew even more backlash from Ole Miss supporters.

Lane Kiffin’s Comment on Ole Miss Atmosphere Sparks Backlash

Reflecting on his return to Oxford, Kiffin admitted he felt an unexpected wave of emotion when LSU’s buses arrived at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. He said he felt grateful for the six years he spent at Ole Miss before praising the atmosphere inside the stadium.

“I guess I had to leave to get them to do that,” Kiffin added.

Kiffin’s decision to leave Ole Miss for LSU changed his relationship with the Rebels fanbase. Once beloved in Oxford, he has since become one of the program’s biggest antagonists, and his latest comment gave fans another reason to criticize their former coach.

“He has always been a narcissistic [expletive]. So happy he lost tonight,” a fan remarked

“Ego bigger than Tiger Stadium. What a miserable human,” a second X user said.

“That quote.. No, he had that and (expletive) it away. Could have been him winning tonight with all of those coaches and players he stole away. It could have been big for him,” one user wrote.

“Karma is coming down hard on this clown’s [expletives] right now. Nobody deserves this loss more than him. Clown ran his mouth and couldn’t back it up when it mattered most,” another chimed in.

“He’s a man-child. Thank God for Pete,” a fan joked.

“What a classic narcissist,” another fan slammed.

During his time with the Rebels, Kiffin elevated the program to an entirely new level of success. He became the first head coach in Ole Miss history to guide the Rebels to three consecutive 10-win seasons.

The former Ole Miss head coach also played a significant role in recruiting Trinidad Chambliss. On Saturday night, Chambliss delivered an impressive performance against Kiffin’s LSU defense.

He completed 33 of 48 passes for 363 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He also rushed nine times for two net yards, including a clutch 14-yard fourth-quarter keeper for the go-ahead touchdown.
