The non-conference slate is now behind Tennessee and the Volunteers are set to kickoff their SEC slate with a bang. Tennessee will host Arch Manning and Texas on Saturday, and all the eyes of the college football world will be on Knoxville once again.
College Gameday will be in town for the game after a couple of primetime matchups quickly lost their luster. The official announcement was made this morning.
Tennessee and Texas are inexplicably set for a noon ET kickoff — a decision that was made back in the summer. ESPN and company are probably kicking themselves there. The kickoff time will dictate a different looking College Gameday, with Rece Davis, Pat McAfee, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Nick Saban doing two hours at Ayers Hall before moving inside of Neyland Stadium for the final hour and the picks.
Both Tennessee and Texas are 3-0 entering this one. The two schools haven’t played each other since the 1969 Cotton Bowl, and they’ve only met three times all-time.
It’s the 13th time College Gameday will come to Tennessee. The Volunteers are 4-8 in those matchups.
College Gameday will get going on Saturday morning at 9 am ET on ESPN ahead of the noon ET kickoff time.
