Kirby Smart praises London Humphreys, reveals NIL incentive: ‘He’s worth it’

In Georgia’s 45-17 win over Arkansas, London Humphreys didn’t record a reception. But he still received plenty of praise from head coach Kirby Smart, who also revealed an NIL incentive in Humphreys’ deal.

Through three games, Humphreys has just two catches for 11 yards as he goes through his third year at Georgia. The majority of his work comes on special teams, where he makes an impact with his blocking ability.

Smart also told reporters Humphreys has a clause in his deal that rewards him for playing on special teams. He said the former Vanderbilt transfer is “worth it” and joked about wanting to give Humphreys a break from time to time.

“He cares so much,” Smart said in his postgame press conference. “He’s the highest-character kid on the team. He’ll do whatever he can to help the team. He never complains about anything. He’s one of the best blockers.

“He’s got a deal in his NIL incentive, the more special teams he plays, the more money he gets. So he wants to be on special teams. He wants to play every snap on special teams. I keep trying to take him off to save money and it’s not working. … He’s worth it.”

London Humphreys arrived at Georgia in 2024 after transferring from Vanderbilt, where he had 22 receptions for 439 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman. Across his three years in Athens, he has 35 catches for 531 yards and six touchdowns, including three scores last year as a junior.

Georgia put together a complete performance in Saturday’s victory over Arkansas. Gunner Stockton was efficient, completing 10 of 13 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown before Ryan Puglisi took over in the second half. Puglisi then went 7-for-8 for 63 yards and a touchdown.

Stockton also led the running game with 97 yards while Nate Frazier took a team-high 14 carries for 75 yards and a touchdown. Chauncey Bowens also found the end zone three times and totaled 39 yards on the ground.

UGA will now return home to Sanford Stadium in Week 4 for an afternoon matchup against Oklahoma as SEC play continues. The Bulldogs stayed put at No. 2 in the latest AP Top 25 poll released Sunday afternoon after a wild Week 3 of college football.
