Indiana football: Big Ten Championship game scenarios for the Hoosiers

Indiana football is heading up north on Friday to take on rival Purdue at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette in the annual battle for the Old Oaken Bucket.

Should the Hoosiers win, they’d complete the first 12-0 regular season in program history and, more than that, secure a spot in the 2025 Big Ten Football Championship game set to be played on December 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, a short drive from Bloomington.

Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti, rather wisely, isn’t talking about that at all. He’s aiming to keep the Hoosiers laser-focused on retaining the bucket with a win on the road.

We can talk a bit about it though, for curiosity’s sake:

How Indiana can make the 2025 Big Ten Football Championship game

The Hoosiers can secure a spot in the game with:

  • A win over Purdue on Friday (duh)
  • A Michigan win over Ohio State on Saturday

As for its potential opponents, should it get there:

Ohio State

  • With an Indiana win over Purdue and a win over Michigan

Oregon

  • With a Michigan win over Ohio State and a win over Washington

Michigan

  • With a Washington win over Oregon and a win over Ohio State
