Tennessee football vs Auburn game time, TV announced in Alex Golesh return

Tennessee football will play Auburn in an afternoon game on Oct. 3.

The game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET at Neyland Stadium and will be televised on ABC or ESPN. That was announced by the SEC on Sept. 21.

The Auburn game will be the second on Tennessee's SEC slate. It will come after the 13th-ranked Vols (3-0) play No. 1 Texas (3-0) on Sept. 26 (noon ET, ABC) in their SEC opener.

It will be a return to Tennessee for Auburn coach Alex Golesh, co-offensive coordiator Kodi Burns, co-defensive coordinator Tim Banks and others.

Golesh was UT coach Josh Heupel's offensive coordinator in 2021-22. Banks was Heupel's defensive coordinator in 2021-25, but he was fired in December. And Burns was Heupel's wide receivers coach in 2021.

Auburn offensive line coach Tyler Hudanick served as a Tennessee graduate assistant under Golesh in 2021-22. And tight ends coach Larry Scott served as Tennessee's offensive coordinator, tight ends coach and special teams coordinator in 2016-17 under Butch Jones.

The Auburn game will the 55th meeting between the programs since 1900 with the Tigers holding a 29-22-3 advantage. They beat Tennessee 30-17 in 2020 in the last meeting.
