Underdog Ole Miss at Florida puts Rebels on upset alert

Fans still enjoying and reveling in the Magnolia Bowl win over LSU and Darth Kiffin are finding themselves with a wake up call that Ole Miss are underdogs to Florida this Saturday.

The No.4 Rebels (3-0, 1-0 SEC) are hitting the road into one of the toughest environments in college football at the Swamp in Gainesville with a -3.5 spread on the Gators. It’s the emotional let down game Pete Golding and his staff have to find a way to get the team focused back on the week ahead.

A win over LSU in front of a primetime home crowd is great, but it means less if Florida can beat you the next week – that’s just life in football period. While it’s easy to say, we’re on to Florida week there does seem to be a bit of a hangover from the win last Saturday and not just from the cold beer.

Golding made his message clear during his press conference yesterday when he said the memories he has traveling to the Swamp are of the 2024 loss. The Rebels were ranked in the top 25 and got upset by a 5-5 Florida squad 24-17.

This is not a SEC series played annually as Ole Miss and Florida used to be in different divisions of the conference, but it has been since 2008 when the Rebels won in 2008. That was an upset of the eventual national champions, and since then, the Rebels have been the team upset. So can Ole Miss figure out a way to avoid another let down in Gainesville?
