Following a turbulent period for him due to an AI video controversy, Texas football quarterback Arch Manning once again stepped in front of a podium to answer questions from reporters. Texas is getting ready to play Tennessee in an SEC showdown. Manning was remarkably brief in his replies to questions, X had noted on social media.
In a prior press conference this season following a Texas win over Ohio State, Manning was asked about an AI video that showed his head coach Steve Sarkisian hitting sideline reporter Holly Rowe. Manning had laughed about the video with reporters, which caused a controversy.
Manning has since apologized for that behavior, and Rowe thanked him and accepted it. The Texas quarterback has led the Longhorns this season to an undefeated 3-0 record.

Texas is now set to play Tennessee in a ranked showdown of two SEC teams, with College Football Playoff aspirations. Tennessee also enters the game at 3-0. This will be the first conference game of the season for both teams.
This season, Manning has 661 passing yards and seven touchdown throws. He also has posted two interceptions.
“If the Longhorns get the version of Manning they saw in the fourth quarter against Ohio State — when he completed 72.7% of his passes and threw a touchdown — they’ll have a good shot of winning,” Sports Illustrated wrote.
Texas has wins this season over Ohio State, UTSA and Texas State. The squad is looking to return to the CFP this year after missing out in 2025. Texas made the field during the 2023 and 2024 seasons under Sarkisian.
The Longhorns play Tennessee Saturday at 12:00 ET.
