Kentucky QB Kenny Minchey's QBR rank among SEC passers

It was Kentucky Wildcats quarterback Kenny Minchey's brightest moment. Just one week after struggling to get the offense moving, he went on the road and played like one of the nation's best, leading his team to a 31-21 win over Texas A&M, the ninth-ranked team in the country.

It was a major victory for the Wildcats program, but it was certainly a brilliant moment for Minchey individually. He went 14-for-18, and two of the misses were drops, for 252 yards and 2 touchdowns, good for a 91.1 QBR.

Minchey wasn't the only SEC quarterback to shine, though. Gunnar Stockton continued the fantastic start to his season. Kamario Taylor continued to wow everyone with his exciting skill set. Trinidad Chambliss also had a big day, and knocked off his former coach in the week's most satisfying victory.

So, how do the quarterbacks of the SEC stack up after week three? Here are all 16 starters ranked by total QBR from the bottom to the top.

16. K.J. Jackson – Arkansas Razorbacks

  • QBR: 45.6

Jackson had his best game of the season to this point, completing 20-of-27 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately it didn't result in a win for the Razorbacks, who were steamrolled by Georgia.

15. LaNorris Sellars – South Carolina Gamecocks

  • QBR: 50.5

A duel between Sellars and Kamario Taylor went to Taylor, but Sellars didn't play poorly. A couple of interceptions, however, hurt his score this week.

14. Jared Curtis – Vanderbilt Commodores

  • QBR: 54.0

Curtis threw for 277 yards and 3 touchdowns with 2 interceptions on the day, but was gifted a win in the most improbably finish to a game this season so far.

13. Marcel Reed – Texas A&M Aggies

  • QBR: 54.3

Inconsistency has plagued Reed during his career, and it struck on Saturday as well. He had some terrific throws, but a couple of bad ones put the Aggies in a bind, and helped them fall behind by three scores at one point.

12. John Mateer – Oklahoma Sooners

  • QBR: 66.1

Oklahoma struggled with New Mexico, and Mateer tossed a couple of interceptions in a game the Sooners should have dominated. They need him to play better going forward.

11. Kenny Minchey – Kentucky Wildcats

  • QBR: 67.9

Minchey was terrific in week three, posting a QBR of 91.1. He led Kentucky to one of the biggest wins in program history, and was one of the stars of the week.

10. Byrum Brown – Auburn Tigers

  • QBR: 69.5

Auburn lost to Florida, but Brown held his own, throwing for 271 yards and 3 scores. He also ran for 65 yards and another touchdown.

9. Arch Manning – Texas Longhorns

  • QBR: 71.3

In a game against a lesser opponent, Manning didn't need to be great. He completed just 50% of his passes, and had 2 touchdowns for a 30.7 QBR for the game.

8. Sam Leavitt – LSU Tigers

  • QBR: 75.2

Leavitt did his best to bring LSU back against Ole Miss, but came up just short. He threw for 158 yards and rushed for 63 more and was responsible for 2 touchdowns.

7. Austin Simmons – Missouri Tigers

  • QBR: 75.8

Simmons didn't play poorly, but he didn't need to do much against Troy. He had just 91 yards passing and a touchdown, which was only good for a 21.8 QBR this week.

6. Keelon Russell – Alabama Crimson Tide

  • QBR: 78.8

It was a spectacular day for Russell, who was 23-of-30 for 320 yards and 3 touchdowns against Florida State. He also ran for 56 yards and a score, and had a 96.2 QBR for the game.

5. Faizon Brandon – Tennessee Volunteers

  • QBR: 79.0

A 46.4 QBR for the day isn't great, but he played well overall. Brandon recorded 178 yards and a touchdown against Kennesaw State.

4. Trinidad Chambliss – Ole Miss Rebels

  • QBR: 81.4

Chambliss led Ole Miss to a big win over their former head coach on Saturday. He made big plays when it mattered, and threw for 363 yards and 2 scores.

3. Aaron Philo – Florida Gators

  • QBR: 88.6

It has been a solid start to the season for Philo and the Gators. They got a nice win against Auburn on Saturday, and Philo threw for 204 yards and a touchdown.

2. Kamario Taylor – Mississippi State Bulldogs

  • QBR: 88.9

Taylor has been outstanding this season, and is one of the best players in the country. On Saturday, he threw for 251 yards and 4 touchdowns in a win over South Carolina.

1. Gunnar Stockton – Georgia Bulldogs

  • QBR: 94.8

Stockton hasn't had to face a really good defense yet, but he has been very good. This week, he was 10-of-13 for 147 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 97 yards.
