2028 Recruit Has Ridiculously High Praise for Penn State's Matt Campbell

As we look at the future of Penn State’s football program, a lot is going to come down to what Matt Campbell can do recruiting-wise. 

Ultimately, the transfer portal and other avenues are going to give him a real opportunity to do what’s needed on both sides of the football, but I’m interested to see how he decides to approach things. 

As of right now, Penn State has the 20th-ranked recruiting class in the country for 2027, according to 247Sports.

Penn State is also trying to get things done in the 2028 class, including its pursuit of offensive lineman Josiah Eney. 

Eney, who is 6-foot-5 and nearly 300 pounds, is a star for Our Lady of Good Counsel in Olney, Maryland. Good Counsel is highly regarded as one of Maryland's better programs, and guys like Eney are a big reason why. Speaking to reporters about what he liked during his time at Penn State, Eney made it sound like Campbell is making an impact on these recruits. 

The young man currently holds offers from Colorado, Maryland, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Washington, and Penn State. However, Penn State seems to be at the top of his list.

"It was great there. Penn State is super high on my list after today. What stands out most to me is Coach Campbell. He's an amazing coach on and off the field, and it shows in the guys and results he produced at Iowa State. 

“It's really a family atmosphere down there, and he leads it. Another thing that stands out to me is Coach Ryan Clanton. The guys he's producing right now are insane, and they're all dogs. The culture he's brought to the Penn State O-line room. It's crazy, and I really love it," Eney said, per A to Z Sports.

Bringing in big-time offensive line recruits is something 

Campbell has spoken about and truly needs to do. Penn State is typically one of the better rushing teams in college football, and a big reason for that is the line it can build.

Regardless, these are positive signs that Campbell is doing what’s needed in recruiting, something people had questions about when he got the job.
