The Georgia and Clemson football programs are two of the best college programs in the country. The schools announced on Tuesday that they will cancel four future games that had been scheduled between the teams. The games would have been played from 2029 through 2032, On3 reported.
It appears the move was motivated by changes made to the SEC conference schedule. Georgia had to maneuver due to the addition of a ninth SEC conference game each season. The Bulldogs also have Georgia Tech on their schedule in the years ahead, due to that in-state rivalry.
Georgia and Clemson also have a good rivalry. The two schools have met in football in recent years, and both programs have won national championships in the last 10 years. Georgia is currently led by head coach Kirby Smart, while the Clemson Tigers are led by coach Dabo Swinney.

This isn’t the first time Georgia has had to make changes recently in their non conference schedule.
“Georgia has already made a similar move with Florida State. The Bulldogs and Seminoles were originally scheduled to play a home-and-home series in 2027 and 2028, but that series was shifted to a single neutral-site game in 2028,” On3 reported.
Georgia and Clemson mutually agreed to end the planned series, the outlet reported. Time will tell if the two programs get each other back on the schedule.
This season, Georgia holds a 3-0 record. The Bulldogs have won in blowouts. The team is 1-0 in the SEC, as one of their victories is over Arkansas. The other two wins were against Tennessee State and Western Kentucky.
Clemson, meanwhile, is 2-1 on the campaign. The Tigers were blown out by LSU to start the campaign, before posting back-to-back wins over Georgia Southern and North Carolina.
While Georgia and Clemson won’t have a planned meeting anytime soon, the two football teams could certainly meet in the College Football Playoff at some point.
