2026 Heisman Trophy betting odds: Favorites, contenders, future picks for Week 4 including Chambliss, Mensah

There is a new Heisman favorite in the market following Week 3! Ole Miss' Trinidad Chambliss is the odds on leader after he threw for 363 yards and compiled three touchdowns to beat #7 ranked LSU and his former head coach Lane Kiffin. Before that happened, Miami's Darian Mensah separated himself from the rest of the country with an ACC record 23-straight completions at Wake Forest on Friday night. The two lead off my Heisman rankings for Week 4, but all eyes this week will be on USC's Jayden Maiava versus Oregon. Heisman Trophy odds are courtesy of DraftKings. Let's get started!

Darian Mensah was fantastic in Miami's 33-20 win at Wake Forest on Friday. Mensah broke the ACC record for consecutive completions with 23 well into the third quarter. Mensah finished with 220 yards on 30-of-34 with three touchdowns. He now has more touchdown passes (11) than incompletions (8) through three games. I get the competition isn't what you'd want out of the Heisman favorite, but he's just playing the schedule laid out in front of him.

Most sports books have Trinidad Chambliss as the new No. 1 in the Heisman tropgy and I'd say it's neck and neck. I don't want to overreact too much, but Chambliss was outstanding against LSU minus the interception thrown. Chambliss took the game into his own hands with a 14-yard touchdown on second down, then got the two-point conversion to go up 32-24 on LSU.

Getting the win in primetime against his former head coach Lane Kiffin, who was making his return to Oxford for the first time since leaving Ole Miss gave Chambliss the stage to state his Heisman case — and Chambliss delivered. He finished with 363 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, one rushing score, and 33-of-48 passing (68.8%). With that win over LSU, and a game-winning drive against Louisville, Chambliss is certainly No. 3 for the Heisman at the very worst, but has a legitimate case to be the front-runner right now.

Jeremiah Smith broke Ohio State's all-time receiving yards record to become the program leader with 2,958 yards! Smith caught five passes for 85 yards against Kent State as the Buckeyes rolled 59-3. Another touchdown would have boosted Smith's Heisman campaign, but Brandon Inniss and Chris Henry Jr. each caught a touchdown instead. I had to drop Smith one spot this week after Chambliss' performance, but Smith remains the best chance at a non-QB to win the award.

Following Texas' comeback win over Ohio State, the Longhorns were on cruise control against UTSA. Texas won 30-6 and Arch Manning went 16-of-32 (50%) for 161 yards, two touchdowns, and 53 rushing yards on 10 carries. Texas has a bye week to prep for their first road game of the season — they trip to 14th-ranked Tennessee. Texas went 2-3 straight-up on the road last season with both wins in coming in OT versus Kentucky (16-13) and Mississippi State (45-38). After Tennessee, the Longhorns will face Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry game in Dallas.

Malachi Toney was once again the biggest recipient of Darian Mensah's record day versus Wake Forest. Toney caught 12 passes for 114 yards and a score. Toney is tied-second in the country with 28 receptions and ranks second with 444 yards and fourth with five receiving touchdowns. The sophomore is so dynamic and through 19 career games, he's now averaging 7.2 receptions, 87.1 yards per game and 0.84 touchdowns.

Kamario Taylor went down 16-0 at South Carolina, then exploded for 251 passing yards, 33 rushing yards, and four scores through the air in a 41-34 win. The Bulldogs had 393 yards of offense and Taylor was responsible for 284 of that (72.2%). Taylor now has three or more touchdowns in all three games and four in two of those. His 11 passing touchdowns are tied for second-best in the nation and his 88.9 QBR is sixth!

Taylor showed glimpses of stardom last year with 178 passing yards and 173 rushing yards, plus three scores against Ole Miss in his first start and again in their bowl game versus Wake Forest (241 pass yards, 63 rush yards, 2 TD). Mississippi State is at home the next weeks versus #19 Missouri and #8 Alabama. Taylor could climb as high as No. 1 if the Bulldogs knock off both the Tigers and Tide.

Josh Hoover threw a season-high 273 yards against Western Kentucky in a 38-0 win. The Hoosiers offense posted 513 yards of offense and had 24 first downs, but only converted two out of 13 third downs and surprisingly led 14-0 at the half. Hoover's 10 touchdown passes are tied for fourth-most in the country and his 89.4 QBR is fifth-best. The crazy part is that Indiana hasn't even truly unleashed him yet as they've faced North Texas, Howard, and Western Kentucky who are a combined 2-7 on the early season.

Notre Dame took command of Michigan State after the Spartans rallied to make the score 17-10, but the defense shut the door in the second half for a 27-10 win. CJ Carr had his most forgettable game of the season and maybe his career. Carr was an efficient 18-of-24 (75%) for 234 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions. Carr scored on a three-yard run in the fourth quarter and finished with nine rushing yards overall. Notre Dame goes to Purdue next. The Boilermakers have allowed 38 and 52 points in their last two games and lost 56-30 last year to Notre Dame. Carr went 10-of-12 for 223 yards and two touchdowns.

After the Trojans' narrow 42-35 win at Rutgers, Jayden Maiava's odds went from +1800 to +3000. It really wasn't his fault as he led the offense to 42 points, 461 total yards of offense, zero turnovers, and six scoring possessions on their first eight drives. Because he played an extra game, Maiava leads the country in yards (1,173) and touchdowns (12). However, none of that matters if USC loses to Oregon this weekend. A loss to the Ducks would eliminate Maiava from the Heisman and put USC back on the outside looking in for the College Football Playoff.

At some point, does Charlie Becker steal Heisman votes from Josh Hoover? Looking at Hoover's numbers, Becker has accounted for 41.9% of Hoover's yards, 60% of his touchdowns, and 32.4% of his completions through three games. Becker has scored from 79, 41, 35, 34, 9, and 6 yards out this season. Half of his receptions have gone for touchdowns. Becker could lead the country in touchdowns this season and be the third receiver invite to the Fred Biletnikoff Trophy ceremony.

Julian Sayin went 18-of-24 for 241 passing yards and two touchdowns against Kent State. To make room for Kamario Taylor and Charlie Becker, it seemed like an easy choice to nix Sayin after the Texas loss. Three or more scores versus Illinois en route to another blowout win could land him back on the list.

Gunner Stockton didn't do anything wrong to drop off from No. 9 on my list, it's just Georgia didn't have to throw the ball against Arkansas. Stockton finished with 147 passing yards, the the-lowest since the start of last season, and one touchdown pass. Stockton ran for 97 yards on seven carries and was sacked three times, so he did surpass the 100-yard mark. Stockton has 9 touchdowns to zero interceptions and could easily be on this list next week.

New to the Top 10

Charlie Becker has quietly been snapping for the Hoosiers. While everyone talks about Jeremiah Smith and Malachi Toney, rightfully so, Becker is putting himself in the conversation to be the third-best receiver in the country and a dark horse Heisman candidate.

I was thinking of putting Kamario Taylor at No. 10 last week, but it wasn't a hard decision where to positioning him this week. Four touchdowns in the SEC road opener and 12 total touchdowns through three games will get you on the Heisman list.
