Florida's Success Prompted Warning From Pete Golding

Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall quickly shut down the idea that his team should be favored to beat No. 4 Ole Miss on Saturday.

The No. 21 Gators are set to have won one of the most important games in Gainesville for quite some time. Florida is 3-0 after beating Auburn 44-39 on Saturday. A win over the Rebels would put the Gators squarely in the College Football Playoff conversation before October.

The contest could easily turn into a trap game for Ole Miss. The Rebels are coming off an emotionally charged win over then-No. 7 LSU on Saturday.

During an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Tuesday, Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding said his team had little time to celebrate a win over LSU. They have the Gators to worry about this weekend.

"Congratulations, you get to go play another top 25 team at Florida, who’s got an 80% win rate in the last 10 years as a top 25 team,” Golding said, via a transcription from On3. “One of the best offenses in the country versus Sumrall, coached a football team that’s coming from the playoffs.

"I think Buster Faulkner’s one of the best offensive coordinators in the country, does an unbelievable job.

The Gators offense appears to have enough juice to contend with anyone in the SEC. Jadan Baugh could be the best running back in the country. Aaron Philo looks solid through three games.

The real test will be how the Gators defense handles quarterback Trinidad Chambliss (and running back Kewan Lacey, who should be available on Saturday).

Golding credited Gators defensive coordinator Brad White for his success stumping Ole Miss when White was the defensive coordinator of Kentucky.

Golding warned his team that they'd better work hard this week to beat a motivated Florida squad.

"So, if anybody in this building is not working their (expletive) off to know that they’re going to play a really good football team that’s really well coached, there’s more wrong with them than I think there is," Golding said. 

Florida had better be ready for Ole Miss to come in motivated to beat the Gators. Golding's team wants to prove that beating LSU was not their Super Bowl, and a win against the Gators would cement that message.
