‘Knows He Won’t Be There’, ‘Lying’ — CFB Fans Call Out Dabo Swinney’s Stance on Playing Fewer Conference Games After Canceled Georgia Series

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney slammed the cancellation of the Tigers’ scheduled games against the Georgia Bulldogs. According to the Athens Banner-Herald, Clemson and Georgia mutually agreed to cancel four on-campus games scheduled for 2029, 2030, 2032, and 2033.

College football fans on X slammed Swinney’s preference for teams to play fewer conference games and more crossover games.

Fans React to Dabo Swinney’s Non-Conference Games Stance

One fan accused Swinney of trying to use the situation to save his job.

“Bro wants more wins so he doesn’t get fired,” the fan wrote.

Another fan warned Swinney that such a slate would expose the declining Tigers.

“Less conference games = more opportunities for Clemson to be exposed. Nah, you don’t want that Dabo. STFU,” the fan pointed out.

One fan offered a harsh critique of Swinney’s middling Tigers.

“Dabo favors anything except winning games,” the fan remarked.

Another fan predicted Swinney would no longer be Clemson’s coach by the time the Georgia series was scheduled to begin.

“Dabo is funny man. His ahh knows he won’t be there to play Georgia,” the fan mocked.

One fan completely dismantled Swinney’s stance on non-conference matchups.

“All everyone does is schedule mid-majors, totally watering down the sport. The “crossover games” he mentions are basically SEC versus Sunbelt/CUSA and B1G versus MAC. In pretty sure the “G6” is 2-61 against power conferences this year. Rather see more conference games than that,”the fan argued.

Another fan had a one-word retort to the Clemson coach’s assertion.

“Lying >>>>” the fan posted.

The cancellation comes as the SEC adopts a nine-game conference schedule and the ACC transitions to a nine-game scheduling model. The Big Ten and Big 12 already play nine league games.

The SEC’s move to a nine-game conference schedule impacted the Bulldogs’ ability to schedule the Tigers. Georgia plays 10 Power Four games, including an annual matchup against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
