Deion Sanders has removed several Colorado Buffaloes football players from the team. He made the announcement during his weekly press conference on Tuesday.

Sanders, who entered his fourth year in Boulder, started the season at 2-1 with a 41-7 blowout at Northwestern on Saturday night. Coach Prime wasn't pleased with his players laughing after the loss.

"I don't understand how in the world you can find joy, or you can find a laughing matter when I'm right behind you walking [into the locker room]," Sanders said Saturday. "I don't understand that, and I addressed it, and I'm going to put my foot in it, not on it."

Sanders also reiterated this wasn't solely related to the loss over the weekend. But it was the right thing to do considering how the team has functioned as of late.

"It's never one [thing]," Sanders said. "I'm one of the most loving and giving and forgiving men you could ever meet, but when you start [having] conduct detrimental to the team, you don't care about the team, you care about you. I have a problem with that. A year ago, I didn't put my foot down in it enough. It lingered a little bit. Then, it imploded."

Despite Sanders going on the record and saying that players were dismissed, Colorado said in a statement the changes were not finalized.

The Buffs ended the 2025 season at 3-9, right after going 9-4 in 2024. The constant roller-coaster under Sanders has given many fans whiplash. The team added 44 new players from the transfer portal in the offseason, but have struggled to find consistency this season.

Colorado opens Big 12 play against Baylor on Saturday (Noon ET, ESPN2).
