Oregon’s 2028 class takes shape as Josiah Boyd & Landen Wade leave Autzen with big impressions

Oregon has the eye of a couple top targets as Dan Lanning and his staff will be seeking what could be a fifth-straight top five recruiting class in the 2028 cycle.
That begins with the No. 2 quarterback in the Rivals300 in Josiah Boyd. The Ducks are in the top three for Boyd alongside UCLA and Kentucky and following his game visit last Friday for the 84-0 victory over Portland State the Big Ten powerhouse continues to give him a lot to think about.
“I thought the game was a great experience,” Boyd said. “The atmosphere was crazy and you could feel the energy from the fans the whole time. I liked watching how Oregon competed and how the offense operated.
“My biggest takeaway was just how comfortable I felt there. From the coaches to the players, everybody made me feel welcomed. I got a better understanding of how they develop quarterbacks and what they expect from their players. Being able to experience the game day atmosphere and see everything up close was pretty dope.”
Next up for Boyd is visiting Kentucky next month.
One of the big risers in Tuesday’s Rivals300 update for the 2028 class was versatile defensive lineman Landen Wade out of Chandler (Ariz.) Basha. Wade is now the No. 3 defensive line recruit in the country and No. 19 prospect overall.
Wade was always at the top of Lanning and Oregon’s board and he’s fired up about the Ducks as well.
Oregon has definitely separated itself because of the strong relationship I’ve built with the staff and the consistency they’ve shown me. At the same time, I have several visits planned this season, and I want to continue learning about those programs before I narrow things down. Most importantly, I’m praying and asking God to guide me throughout this process. This decision is bigger than football, and I want to be led by God in choosing the place that is right for me and my family.”
Wade attended Oregon’s win over Boise State to start the season.
“The environment inside Autzen was crazy,” Wade said. “The energy from the fans and the whole atmosphere made it a really special experience.
“After the trip, I’m still really excited about the opportunity at Oregon because of the relationships I’ve built with the coaches, Coach Lanning, and the culture they have there. I feel like it’s a place where I could develop on and off the field and be part of something special.”
Next up for Wade is Texas A&M on Oct. 10 and then he’ll head to Oklahoma the weekend of Oct. 17. Several other programs are pushing for Wade and he is having dialogue with a lot of schools.
