As Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies coaching staff turn their attention to the 2028 class, defensive line coach Jason Kaufusi and outside linebackers coach Aaron Van Horn have their sights set on some of the nation's top defensive linemen in the 2028 class.
Among that group is four-star athlete King Pitts, a product of Kapa'a High School in Hawaii. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound prospect is ranked as the No. 289 overall prospect and No. 15 athlete in the 2028 class by the 247Sports Composite and holds offers from all over the country.
On Tuesday, he cut his list of 43 offers down to 12, including Washington alongside Alabama, Auburn, BYU, California, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas, and UCLA. As the Huskies continue to hunt for high-end depth along the defensive line, Fisch's coaching staff has some work to do to assert itself among his top contenders.
"Schools like BYU, Ohio State, Oregon, Cal, and Texas are standing out right now. But it's still early, and I am keeping my options open," Pitts told Cougar Sports Insider's Jeff Hansen.
On film, Pitts shows off impressive athleticism and an explosive first step that could help him develop into a disruptive pass rusher along the interior as he continues to add weight to his frame. He also holds the point of attack well against the run and possesses the versatility to shift further outside, a valuable trait in defensive coordinator Ryan Walters' scheme.
As the Huskies continue to search for reinforcements along the defensive front after adding four-star defensive tackles Jon Ioane and Tevita Nonu in the 2027 class, Pitts could be a promising addition if the Huskies can make a surge in his recruitment.
